I have only ever used 2000, ME, XP and Vista and Vista is the best. I ain't used it much though so i don't really know. I am going to try Ubuntu on a spare machine and hope to purchase a MacBook soon.

well linux is good for servers but when it comes to daily use it sucks. windows is the most compatible OS. everything is made for windows. there is like about 85% of the people using windows. no wonder. and it is just really good.

well right now think about using vista and forget about windows 7. there is like 2 years before it comes out or maybe even more. hey why don't you just download vista from here and install it on your computer rather than using those stuff to make it look like vista. lol

I would recommend vista only for things like aero and stuff. Otherwise, it can cause a lot of problems to an average user ex. crashing drivers, slowdowns, errors, UAC. Windows XP is the best OS to have cause you can make it look like vista (almost) and you get speed and reliability. Nothing tops XP, not even mac's os.

mac's os can go to hell. when i was a kid mac used to be like a toy version of windows. well never mind. yeah XP is really till now, but vista is also good. now if you have a computer with good specs then it shouldn't be slow and stuff.

Not necessarily, I have 2gb ram and a pretty good processor, and it craws sometimes. It does this when I:
1) Start up- It hangs sometimes when i boot my computer. It is randown and doesn't happen everytime
2) Users- I about 3 users on the computer
I usually run with 800mb of ram with one user and 1.4-1.6 ram with 2 users 2+ gb of ram with 3

I still had this problem in xp but I guess you can give XP a break when i was only running at 256 mb of ram and a 1.6 GHz processor. Not to mention i had no space left with my 40 gb hardrive
