Default Tweak FF for speed

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and press enter. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipel ining
network.http.pipelining. maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows: (by double clicking them)

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipel ining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining. maxrequests " to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. (I changed mine to 100, works great.)

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.de lay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves

I've just tried this. It doesn't seem particularly quicker. But the two boolean values you reccommended setting to "true" were already set to "true" beforehand, so I guess I had had some of the fast settings all along.

If it doesn't seem faster, set the maxrequests higher. Other than that, I don't know what to tell you because it works for the majority of the general public.

hahahahaha, "general public". Are you implying that we are somehow VIPs; people who are better than those pesky mere mortals, the civillians?

I've got to say, it does seem a bit better -- less crashes have happened lately, certainly :D And nothing's happened for the worse, I'm still alive and the computer hasn't set fire yet.
